Before your installation

Getting ready for your installation

A little preparation helps our installers finish your project in a single visit. Here is what to have ready, and what happens if a second trip is needed.

What to have ready

Your wallpaper, on site

If you are supplying the wallpaper, please have every roll at the property before we arrive, unopened and in one place. If Houston Wallpapering is providing it, we bring it with us.

Enough to finish the job

Please have the full quantity we recommended, including the extra needed to match the pattern. Rolls from the same batch number keep the color consistent from wall to wall.

Walls as we discussed

The walls should be in the condition we talked about when we planned your project. If any preparation was agreed on your side, such as removing texture, repairs or primer, please have it finished and dry.

A clear, easy-to-reach space

Before our team arrives, please move furniture, beds, art, décor and fragile items far enough from the walls for us to reach them, and keep the work area reasonably clear. Make sure we can get in and reach every room, and please keep pets in another area while we work.

The same project we planned

If anything changes, like more walls, a different room or a different wallpaper, let us know before your appointment so we can plan the time and the materials.

Moving furniture and personal items

To help your installation begin on time, please have furniture, beds, décor and personal items moved away from the installation area before our team arrives.

If our team needs to help move an item to reach the work area, we will always handle it with reasonable care. However, Houston Wallpapering cannot assume responsibility for incidental damage associated with moving customer furniture or belongings, including scratches or marks to floors, walls, corners, furniture or surrounding surfaces.

For valuable, fragile, oversized or difficult-to-move items, please arrange for them to be moved before we arrive.

If we need to come back

We set aside the time your project needs. If the work cannot be started or finished as planned because of a condition on the customer's side, a return-trip fee may apply for the additional visit.

$180 Return-trip fee. It may apply only when another visit is needed because of a customer-side condition.

When it may apply

  • There is not enough wallpaper to complete the project.
  • The wallpaper is not at the property when we arrive.
  • The walls are in a different condition than what was communicated to us.
  • Preparation that was agreed to be finished before the installation is not done.
  • The scope of the project changes.
  • The work area is not accessible or not ready.

It never applies when the cause is on our side

  • We ordered or provided the wrong material.
  • There is an issue with our installation or workmanship.
  • A scheduling or operational error on our side.
  • Any other situation caused by Houston Wallpapering.

If a second visit is needed, we will explain the reason and schedule it with you.
